Garth, I’m sorry that you never made it to a USDesmo Rally. Jim does ‘em up right! I forget exactly where in Texas you are but I know Murphy is only about 13 hours from Houston.
We’re over 16 hours north and have trailered our bikes down for Ducks probably 16 times in the last 25 years. We usually leave the weekend before the rally and take our time driving down. We’ve stopped at Maggie Valley, Ashville and Robbinsville to break out the bikes and ride those areas the day before getting to Rally HQ. And we always get there a couple of days early. There are just so many good roads and places to see and eat at.
As I posted on the USDesmo Facebook page, we get freezing rain, sleet even snow by mid October up here. This years rally being Nov. 1-3 will likely be too late in the season for us. But we’ll be down next year with our little purple pocket rocket to drive the roads we used to ride.

Jim,

Even though I've never participated in a US Desmo event, I'm saddened by this news. As a 25-year member of this list, I've often seen your name pop up and always wanted to participate in Ducks Fly South, but unfortunately from Texas it's quite the hike. Good luck, keep the rubber side down and I hope you have the best years of your life ahead of you.
