"Vale - Phil AynsleySad news just in - Phil has sadly passed away after a long illness. The world of Ducati and motorcycle photography in general has lost one of its most valued members. Phil joined the Ducati Owners Club of NSW, riding his 450RT, at the first meeting back in Dec 1976. It didn’t take long for members to recognise his skills behind the lens and soon became our unofficial photographer at race meetings. He leaves us with many photographs memories in his fabulous books.

I’m really sorry to hear this. Phil worked hard at his craft and left an important body of work, so I am certain his name won’t be forgotten.
It’s pretty much all any of us can do and he did it much better than most.
Good on ya Phil…
For those that didn’t know Phil, or his work, he managed to get into private collections where most of the great old Italian bikes were. Morbidelli, Fred Fitzgerald, Jack Silverman and more, he documented it all beautifully.  He had a knack for getting in before it all scattered to the wind and the files I genuinely hope was left to the Ducati museum because they have nothing even close.
Get your hands on one of his books. It’ll blow you away…

Oh my!Yes.. his photos definitely catalogue so many brands and collections … a free ‘education’ for us all!

And then you find something “close to home” that makes it extra special.

Some of us had the extreme pleasure of seeing this collection in the presence of Paul Smart, even.

Peter, also, RIP.
