Hey folks,
Quail Motorcycle 2024 is in the books.
Nasty weather all day Saturday .. rain and good wind.. keep a lot of entrants and attendees away. Criday, loadin day, was beautiful though!
Was still a nice show, though, for me, anyway.
Saw 1 Huyabusa… and for an Anniversary display, well, at least it was turbocharged!
Not enough Vespas… for another featured class, but some nice ones.
The Santa Clara DOC was well represented!
Another featured class.. the 916.. fell short in displays as well. Weather-related… but there were some nice examples, regardless.
I saw, among the usual Henderson and Brough-superiors..a Vyrus and a New Blue.
Several Tesi, a DB1 and a DB2 and a seriously cute MV!
We stuffed these three under a canopy from the rain

The Egli-Honda was special to see as well as a trio of gorgeous Honda Dreams!
Many other wonderful examples of moto-machinery!
I also saw Vicki Smith, but she was too busy to chat, so I kept moving.
All in all, I had a nice trip and enjoyed the show in spite of the weather.

Hi Tom,
Really sorry, I saw you too, but never thought that would be the last I
would see you all day. I was judging the 916 class and while it wasn’t
huge, all the bikes were really good and the one that won was like it just
beamed down to the show field from 1994. Truly remarkable bike.
The rain was unusual but the food was the best yet I thought and the bar
was hopping all afternoon. Genuinely a shame but a good time was still had
by all.
Still the best Moto show anywhere…

I was judging the Custom/Modified class. Very tough; lots of apples to
oranges comparisons. I feel they should split that group in two...

This year was frustrating because, by the time we got done with the
judging, the rain had started and everyone packed up and skee-daddled so we
judges didn't get to see lots of the bikes that weren't in our group.

In any case, I got some good shots on the sunny Friday afternoon during
set-up and some not-so-sunny shots on Saturday. My pics are all in a
gallery here:

Lots of nice Ducatis on display.

My 916 is nowhere near pristine..it probably needs a new paintjob to be
displayed again.  It also needs some work before it can be ridden.
