SSCR Updates

Good day Eric,
I hope you’re well in this new year!

As you may recall, I also have a ‘95 SSCR…from new.

What updates/improvements did you make to yours that were worth the cost?

I’ve done the following:
The ***** indicate instant noticeable seat of the pants changes.. like.. NOW.

****** Hi-compression pistons with a ceramic coat on top and valve faces
****** Rejetted stock and opened airbox
****** New cylinder studs after one broke (allowed it to run)  🤪
TBR carbon slipons . Might just be noisier but I do have a dyno run that showed an increase in bhp and torque.
Ceramic coated in and out header tubes. (Maybe performance, but they never get spotted)
Braided steel lines on brakes
***** Nichols flywheel . Revs up.. NOW.
Replaced levers with full adjustable from a Tamburini model
Bars from a Paul Smart classic
****** Added a couple teeth on rear sprocket. Yes, revs a little faster but now of that stupid low-speed chunking.
Some carbon bits
Clutch slave cylinder
Fatter battery cables for the pistons (stock cables got warm with too much cranking against the compression) DucPond Donnie suggested that one.
****** Adjustable Showa Forks from a Monster S4R. Perfect fit in stock clamps.

Thinking about replacing the rear shock..and also looking for an SP swing arm.. maybe.
Thanks.

Apologies all.
It was politely pointed out to me that I sent this to EVERYONE.
I meant to just hit Eric.

Must be WAY fun to ride now! Maybe carry extra undershorts .... just in
case of leakage!

OMG! You listed all these improvements, and are still missing what may be
the two biggest improvements you can make to this bike?
JFC!
Okay, I've got to calm myself down here.
I had a '96 SSSP which had a lot of similar modifications over time (high
compression pistons, braided steel lines, Termi racing exhaust, ported
intake and exhaust, enlarged intake valves, lightened flywheel, Dynacoil
ignition, . The two modifications not on your list, which made the greatest
improvement in performance and handling were these:

  1. Keihin flat slide caburators. You can do all the jetting you want, but
nothing lets that motor breathe like a pair of FCRs. The improvement in
power delivery was astounding. I would go with FCRs before any of the other
    engine mods.
  2. Light wheels. While the FCRs made the biggest improvement in engine
power delivery, going to forged aluminum wheels make a huge difference in
handling - rotating mass. It was no longer the same bike, and the changes
    were all for the good.
    Goooooo!

Got those on my Guzzi LMIV.

Got BSTs on my SS and 999R.  Big change on the SS, minor on the 999R.
Forged mags on the ST2 and cast mags on the LMIV, also big changes to
handling and breaking.
