Well! If nothing else, this first race weekend showed that this season is
likely not going to be another “Marc show”-at least not in the same
dominating style as last year. It also illustrated that it’s likely not
going to be another “Ducati show”. The Aprilias seem to be dialed in (at
least at this track), and show great speed. Acosta’s KTM did not suffer
from his dreaded rear tire drop off like last year. The Marquez tire
incident was wild-will be interesting to see what is said about the root
cause. I suppose a traumatic loss of pressure somehow, but was surprised to
see how beat up the rim was. Disappointing to see the tuning forks so far
at the back of the pack. Teams will be busy for the next 3 weeks!
