Well, Uncle Sam and I got divorced in '71 I guess (still paying "aliMONIES" to him through his agent, the IRS!), so it would have been in the late '69 to '71/'72. Wonderful times! Shame Kalifornia is so screwed up now. I left when it was just beginning to get real "unfun".

As an addenum to the story about my Dad and his bikes...this weekend, Mom called and her microwave had finally given up the ghost. How Mom got the microwave is the real story, though.

I had already told how Dad got another Hardley after my sister had flown the coop and he'd retired. I had come down to visit and he called me out to the garage and I figured he had some new project going. He was always doing things with his hands. So I walked out to the garage and Mom immediately followed so i figured it had to be something special. Well, in the garage sat a '77 ElectraGlide and he was HAPPY to say the least. Mom was tickled too, but what had transpired before I showed up was of interest. Mom hated cooking (still a good cook though!) and wanted one fo the new fangled microwaves that were just becoming more readily available, but my Dad, knowing the power of radar, said "Nope, too dangerous!". Well, when Dad rode up to the house on his new Hogley, Mom let it be know in no uncertain terms that if he could kill himself on a bike, she sure could kill herself with a microwave!!! Well, Mom got her top of the line microwave the next day!

I pulled it out to the street this afternoon (weighs a TON!!!), feeling guilty as hell about it too! And got her new microwave hooked up. I checked for a date on the back...June of '79. She got her "mileage" out of it! So, Dad's bike is long gone and soon Mom's microwave too, and guess Mom not too much longer either....
