Hey guys,
A few years ago I installed a billet aftermarket clutch slave cylinder and it was working great until it too started leaking. As I was talking about it to a mechanic at my local Ducati dealership, this was around 2005 or so, he convinced me that the then current stock Ducati slave cylinder was just as effective as the billet one when it came to reducing the lever effort. Only problem is, he said, they would have to modify my case to accept the new slave cylinder. I gave the ok to do it because at that point, I just wanted a bike that didnt' leak everywhere. Now, I don't know if what he told me about the modifying part was true but I do know that the new stock cylinder wasn't a smidgen better than my old stock cylinder.
So now I have a little extra money and am thinking of getting another billet slave cylinder. Was I fed a line of bull or can the "one size fits all" slave cylinders I see everywhere still fit on my bike? What was he modification that the mechanic was talking about?
I still have the other billet cylinder and Clayton told me that it could be rebuilt with some new seals but I'm hesitant to trust a rebuilt part that already let me down once. What do you guys think?
Also, my oil vent hose is starting to crack and I would like to replace it. Where can I get a dependable replacement?
Thanks, Mario
