I've tried about every common tire combination on my SS/SP, and I'll gladly share my impressions with the group.
Out front, I've tried both the 120/70 and 120/60 variations, and I definitely prefer the 120/70. They both do OK once turned in, but the 120/60 steers heavier...and the SS steers heavy enough without help!
On the rear, I'm OK with either a 170/60 or a 180/55. For street tires I get whichever I can get a better price on when I'm buying. However, I ALWAYS get a 180/55 for track days as there is no decent race rubber available in 170/60. I can't feel a whit's bit of difference in the handling of the bike from one tire profile to the other on the rear.
Hope this helps,
Cloner

Strange you should find this because it is common knowledge that the 60 profile was for the 750 and 900CR because they used the smaller rear tire and had the lower front profile to keep the bike more balanced. The SP which the FE is basically the same had the 70 series on the front. Everyone who has tried the 70 has preferred it who I have talked to but I have never tried the 60 so really cannot say from personal experience.

Does anyone have experience with both 120/60s and 120/70s on 900SSs? Or
know of anything unique about the FE that suggests the tire requirements are
any different than other 900SSs? I'm assuming most of you are running
120/70s on 900SSs.
Thanks,
Mark
