[Ducati] 120/60 or 120/70 Front on 900SS FE?

I'm not exactly new to the list, but don't get a chance to post very often.
After about 13,000 miles and 3 or 4 front tires (120/70 Pilot Powers), I
thought I'd take a look at the Owner's Manual for tire fitment. I was blown
away to see that the factory recommended front tire is a 120/60. The Haynes
manual, Michelin.com, and most people I've asked say 120/70 is the correct
tire, and that's what I've been running for four years. I believe this
translates into about 12mm difference in ride height (10% of 120mm), which
is quite a bit, and more than the range I've moved the fork tubes in the
triple clamps. The bike gets pretty spooky in gusty cross winds and tends to
fall into very low speed corners.
Does anyone have experience with both 120/60s and 120/70s on 900SSs? Or
know of anything unique about the FE that suggests the tire requirements are
any different than other 900SSs? I'm assuming most of you are running
120/70s on 900SSs.
Thanks,
Mark
