That may be true but Ducati and rings is a special subject. Just cant slap any old rings in a Duc and not expect a bit of an issue with oil consumption, blowby, poor leak down numbers. Years ago FbF used to source rings separate from pistons. Things likely have gotten better since. Still not sure if the JE/Wiseco thing has resulted in better things, anyone know? I used JE pistons ages ago, before Wiseco, the rings were a problem, course this was first generation stuff. Wiseco was better actually, some of the old timers around may be scratching their head as Wiseco has had a checkered past. Back then Omega was the top of the line, now I suspect Pistal is the way to go. But rings are a special concern and you should spend sometime making sure that rings provided have some standing with Duc owners. I also played around with Total Seal rings for a while and wonder if anyone else has tried that since.

I think that if Ducati is this slow and expensive about parts, then I'd just
get some JE pistons:

2 years ago when I needed new rings for the SS the dealer wanted $260.00 Cdn
a set. It was cheaper to source a pair of 11.5:1 JE pistons complete with
new rings out of U.S.A. (1 Cdn dollar was about $.85 U.S. back then). I
spent the savings on piston coating.
