[Ducati] Project Mugello IndyGP update (and AMA Volunteers)

Just wanted to add to Vicki's post here. If you've never done a track day
but have thought about it, you won't find a better one to "pop your cherry"
on than this one. First off, as most on this list tend to be a bit older
and probably a bit less squidly than your average sport bike rider, I think
you'll find the Novice class to be a bit more mellow than your average track
day. STT is the largest track-day provider in the country, and got that way
by running safe, fun, and rider-friendly events, so you'll be in good hands.
Plus, Putnam is a very safe track, with loads of run off everywhere (with
the exception being the final turn) and the only Armco to be found is along
the front straight. The layout is very flowing, with good sightlines
through the corners. There's limited elevation changes (it is central
Indiana, after all), but the track follows the natural terrain and there's
enough elevation and camber changes to make things interesting.

For the faster riders, Putnam's sweeping corners and long front straight
mean high average speeds that reward smoothness and line selection. The
track is wide and the pavement is in very good shape. For everyone, riders
and non-riders alike, the facilities are nice: paved pit roads, running
water, flush toilets, etc.

Note there is no camping at Putnam Park (that was part of their original
agreement with the township when the track was built). There are
campgrounds and hotels in Cloverdale, which is at the track exit on I-70 and
about 10 miles from the track, and there are hotels in Greencastle, which is
about five miles from the track. More hotel and additional track info is
located on the Putnam Park website at: www.putnampark.com. If you stay at
your Indy hotel, you're 60 to 90 minutes away from the track, depending on
traffic.

This should be a great opportunity to get out and play on our Ducatis in
their natural element -- the racetrack!

STT is looking for STT Instructors that ride Ducati's. Please contact Mark
at info at woundedduc.net if you would like to be involved. It's important that
we make this FULLY a Ducati only day and instructors on Non-Ducs does not
send the message that we as Ducati Owners Club "super enthusiasts" are
trying to send so lets make sure we spread the word on this. (Thanks Mark,
as always for your help!)

Plans are still forming as to what else will be going on at the track this
day but Demo rides are expected as is $10 charity donation touring laps
behind a control rider. I also expect there will be a nice lunch offered.
Details as they solidify but this day will certainly sell out well in
advance so if you or your members plan to take part I strongly suggest you
get signed up.
