I think that if Ducati is this slow and expensive about parts, then I'd just
get some JE pistons:

2 years ago when I needed new rings for the SS the dealer wanted $260.00 Cdn 
a set. It was cheaper to source a pair of 11.5:1 JE pistons complete with 
new rings out of U.S.A. (1 Cdn dollar was about $.85 U.S. back then). I 
spent the savings on piston coating.
