Phil ,

Best as I can rememder from conversations with Mike Turner , the mechanic at
Herb Watsons , the cases didnt last , and the financier(/owner?) of the
bike in around 1985 spent up big with new 750 cases , 750 crank , nikasil
factory barrels, high comp factory pistons/rings, other bits , and a Krober
total loss ignition , and the heads receiving an extra small diameter plug
each. It got the M1R's a 4x18 marvic whilst still keeping the 16
campagnolo front and an F1 style front fairing but finished in the TT2
colour scheme, in red and yellow.. When I got it in about 1989 to 1990 , i
gave it the Marvic 3 spoke 17's and ohlins shock + a verlichi alloy swingarm
in place of the narrower alloy aftermarket unit that was fitted to the bike
with the 4x18 wheel in the mid 80's.
The bike, I think had a few owners but remained at herb watsons ducati shop.
Herb Watsons closed shortly after I bought the bike, they sold off a couple
of other racing ducatis, I bought one of those also , a cagiva 650 based
project. Mike Turner the mechanic got involved with a new career in the
environmental sciences field.
I met a guy at Mallala raceway some years later, who had come over from WA
to watch the racing, and who remembered the bike very well . particularly
being riden by a bloke of Scottish descent, along with the battles , and
many wins it had against Brook Henrys bikes.
I suspect these events are probably archived in that states racing history
books/records.
The last owner kept the bike for less than a year , sold it to me to
finance a new business , but more likely the 4 valve duc he later bought
shortly after.

Nick
