[Ducati] 998s regulator/rectifier

Hi Folks:
Having read off and on about fried electrics on the list, I am thinking about being pro active with an aftermarket regulator. Electrix seems to be the one most recommended.? Does the 998s call for the same one as the 996? Anyone know where to source one? Is it a straightforward installation? Is replacement advisable in the absence of outright failure?
