[Ducati] problems with my 907 paso

Hello to all.
  I have recently bought a 1993 907 paso.
  I was told that the fuel pump needed to be replaced.... but the MFG isnt producing them.
  So; I found one(after many hours@ several auto houses) that would fit in the retaining ring in the tank. GREAT!!!
  the bike would start(before replacing the pump) if I speayed some gas in the carb.
   
  Now I put everything back together and crossed my fingers..... hit the start button and VVOOOMM VVVOOOMM VOOMMM,  I let idle for about 20 minuites.
  before puting the plastic back on the lil vioce in my head told me to turn it off and restart it.
  Off it went and refuses to start again.
  all lights work, Ive cleaned the ground connections & looked at ALL of the harnesses. all looks good.
  Ive had it running 2 times now with the same end result.
   
  Anyone have any ideas?
