I also share the same frustration. I remember when Speed Channel first started and all that was on most of the time was motorcycle racing from all over the world. I remember seeing some racing from India. Then the NASCAR folks bought the network and now it we see less and less of the two wheel action or its broadcast at very odd hours and days. Even Two Wheel Tuesday is not about two wheels much anymore. We can't even have one whole day for nothing but broadcasting. I came across this web site a long time ago about a guy who was trying to start a new network
http://theracingnetwork.com/
I never heard much more about it. Not sure if the fight for a two wheel only network is going on. I often wonder why Speed TV can't have a SpeedTV 2 like MTV 2. They even have MTV Spanish. Even ESPN has a short segment of ESPN espanol (spanish). The NFL network has its own channel now as well. Look how the NFL controls the rights of who gets to see what game on what network. Imagine if you will if Dorna took MotoGP.com to the next level to main stream TV in HD. Here's a idea how about offering a subscription to viewers to have a season pass of nothing but racing from MotoGP, BSB, WSK, and any other type of racing that they own or anybody who wanted to be part of the package. Then we could get shows that have behind the scenes and interview, watch super pole qualifying and practices etc.. Most networks offer NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL and even soccer packages for people to purchase for the who season. Why can't we have that same package offered to the two world community. I also a subscriber to Motogp.com for a couple of years now. I would love to watch racing on my 50" and even my 110" in HD with the surround sound rocking the room. Even have a motogp party at the house with friends. If networks can offer cricket games on TV, why can't they offer a sport that has such a huge following world wide. Sales have increased over the years in the motorcycle industry. Two wheels are a popular means of travel in Europe. Why would a two-wheel only channel not work?
I wonder with the new ownership of the AMA what would be the proposal to take two-wheel racing in the AMA to the NASCAR level. Does anybody have the address to write or email SpeedTV or even the new owners of the AMA or how about DORNA?
Can anybody tell me how the new KTM RC8 is doing in its first year of racing. I can't find anything about this series. Instead of starting a race team lets start a race channel/network. For the people run by the people. Stock owners you and I. Be like Verizon and be a private owned company. Then once the network has become a huge success start your team sponsored by the network. Just my thoughts. SPEED TV 2 is my proposal.
