[Ducati] 17000 RPM MotoGP Limit?

Tony,
what I meant was in terms of the only MotoGP motor that makes the most power
etc. but F1 is a different case. F1 uses pneumatic, not desmo. Given the
huge horsepower and displacement (relatively) the F1 motor doesn't mind a
little power loss to operate valves.
Recall that for the 990cc bikes, the Ducati had more power but not such an
overwhelming power advantage, just a bit more.
Then the advent of the 800cc bikes, and suddenly the power gap widened quite
a bit. Why? Because the smaller motor is more sensitive to horsepower
robbing aspects, such as spring valves. Pneumatics allow for stronger cam
profiles without floating, but still there is the additional friction to
operate the valves vs desmo. Hence the Yamaha is improved, but still behind.
Ducati focused on refining and eliminating friction, so they continue to be
ahead in power for gas consumption.
