Holy Crap, John, that's exciting stuff to hear from someone I "know". All I
can say is good luck and good fortune.

One man team....

Hodgson is getting paid almost nothing this year, after sitting out a
season. He will only make any significant $$$'s if he wins the
championship. That should make him push this season in the AMA.

Spies will move to MotoGP next year, I am reasonably certain. Mladin
won't go to World...he will retire here. Roger H. is just not quite
there, is he? Maybe, he was fast on the Quack at a home track in
MotoGP, but I don't see Americans to WSBK unless they are dominant in
AMA series, or at least highly competitive w/ the Zooks, and who does
that leave?

Off topic: I am pleased to see the France family coming through for the
AMA. Now Roger Edmonson will be running the series, and perhaps the
goofy rules and classes will go and some real promotion will take place,
leading to better gates and attraction for sponsorship dollars. It is
impossible for me to believe that this won't be a very good move for the
series.

I am seriously considering the idea of starting this year to put a good
rider on a 1098 R in sub-AMA level and see if I can build a team around
the effort to go AMA SBK racing. I am in talks with riders I think
deserve a shot, and I am convinced the bike has great potential. It has
been a life long dream and for the first time, with my retirement later
this spring, I will have both the resources and the time to pursue it.

Spies is most likely headed straight to MotoGP. Heck are there any big
contract American's other than Spies?? The Hayden boys maybe? Hacking
was
recently naturalized, (born in UK I think?), DuHamel's Canadian and long
in
the tooth. Zemke and Hayes, although drawing a nice salary for sure,
can't
be making that much? There's Yates I suppose...but again, past his born
on
date. The Bostroms are done on the world stage. The other fast guys
would
clearly be Mladin (Aussie), Hodgson (UK) and Davies (UK).

Best hope is probably guys like DiSalvo, Herrin and maybe one of the
Haydens. It's still gonna be a tough jump for those guys. The talent
pool is
pretty deep with former top 250 and MotoGP guys running mid pack. Aside
from
Edwards and Nicky in recent years.....the AMA hasn't exactly been a
great
feeder series since the days of flat track.

cheers,

Fred
