Couple of folks have made a tool to hold the rotor, that is the best way. I have used impacts and wicking locktite but for sure the best option ar Nichols double nuts. that is what I use currently. Rich

jamb nuts from Nichols. Then, I've been told that you place a penny between
the starter gears to keep the engine from turning, though I think a clutch
holding tool would work also. I have yet to do this, though I have bought
the Nichols lightweight flywheel for my 900ie engine. It's too cold outside
to work on it!

What is a good way to tighten the rotor nut on the end of the crank with out
having the engine spin?
I need to put 270Nm of torque on this nut and I cant keep the thing from
spinning the motor.
I have tried:
Bike in gear (1st)
Rear brake locked
old bent fork tube jammed between rear wheel and swing arm
I even got a real "TOUGH" steel reinforced oil filter wrench to grab the
rotor and then put a 1m cheater bar on it.
(it bent at 150-170Nm)
All I could come up with is to use the strongest red tread locker I could
find with the impact driver on max with the PSI set to max and pray it is
tight enough...This bike has already thrown a rotor into the stator at
speed..with shall we say exciting results and a pretty big mess
internally...I do not trust praying in the least.
So, how does the enlightened Ducatista hold the crank to torque this bolt?
Thanks,
Eric
