Hey Eric
I am currently rebuilding my 916 engine, when removing the alternator nut it
should be heated to melt the lock tight, after heat just get a good grip
with your hand ( wearing gloves) and impact it off.
On reinstallation the only way I could torque the alternator nut was to
order the alternator holding tool that I found in the U.K. Here is a link to
a different site that I just found. It actually looks better than the
holding tool that I have. But there is no other way I could get the nut
torqued with out this tool, I had to order it. Also get a buddy to hold the
tool well you do this. My tool isn't a perfect fit and it easily slips off
the alternator. Hope this helps. Make sure to red lock tight it as well.
