[Ducati] 2 threads in one (touring and bump starting)

As one who has taken a '97 & '96 SS/SP's from CT to CO/WY several times,
I'll throw in my two-cents here. I found the SS a joy to ride both on the
interstates and absolutely in the twisties. I never doubted their
reliability and I was not disappointed. I just love those bikes. Nowadays I
have a 998 and a Triumph Sprint RS. This is the first time I've owned more
than one bike at the same time. I bought the Sprint because the woman in my
life wanted to tour, she paid half the cost of the bike and Charlie
McCullough told me I should. :) That Sprint is an amazing bike and I can't
imagine a VFR meeting my needs as much as it does. IMHO, the key to riding a
Duc or any sportbike more than, say, 400 mi. in a day lies in the way you
fit to the bike. I've ridden my 998 on 500 mi. day with no aches and pains.
If I could only have one bike, I'd be sorely tempted to have another SS.
