Fwd: [Ducati] Bump starting

Actually, there CAN be too much amperage, but I'd say that's a completely
different problem. Not sure if it's a problem on later model bikes, but my
748 would draw too many amps if the battery was drained even just slightly
and it'd mess up the regulator/rectifier.

Hi Alec - there is no such thing as too much amperage. The current
drawn (amps) depends on the available voltage and the load applied.
Basically your bike will only draw as much current as it needs. One
thing that may cause a problem is a voltage spike when you connect or
disconnect the jumpers - but I have never actually heard of anyone
having a problem with this. I have started both my Ducs - both carb
models - with jumper cables with no trouble. I'm sure the Multi will
not be a problem either but better check with someone from one of the
shops on the list. I'm sure may of them will have started bikes with
booster batteries.
