For an interesting article about making money with music, check out this
one, where acclaimed violinist Joshua Bell makes money as a street musician.
At around $40 per hour, won't take any time to have a good tool fund.
It does put a funny perspective on how music is perceived.

While harbour freight has tools including dial indicators, you can often
find better quality tools for about the same price or so from pawn shops or
used items. Not long ago, I bought a top chest with some quality tools in it
for very little money. I actually just wanted the chest, a nearly new
Gerstner, but tools and all, it was only $150.
Cheaper dial indicators usually are not as rugged. Also, a dial test
indicator can be more easily mounted and is good for checking end play on
the crank.
