Save your cash for parts! Your going to need some! I use a 13 dollar 1"
Harbor Freight dial indicator. Guess what they work!
How well? Enough to confirm duration and lift of the camshaft with no error.
You more than likely find more error in you homemade mount than in the dial
indicator itself when setting the crank specs. If worried, you can always
use something of known thickness to measure to validate the operation of the
indicator. That's what I did. When done using it....you can throw it away if
you like! : ) Then you can purchase a digital model for 25 bucks.

for setting the cams. (see link below) It's for you, because I still
remember all the support you offered when I was sick! I haven't
forgotten....
