John, sorry to hear about your friend and mentor, Bear. When people like him are around then disappear from your life, you don't really realize what a huge space they occupied in your life. Only then do you see that big void, and in the case of Bear, it may never be completely filled. Just mark that spot as "reserved" and continue to live your life as Bear would have you do it. 
   
  From your "eulogy", he's a man I'd liked to have been able to have know and to have been able to sit around a fireplace, fine spirits in hand, and talk in whatever direction the conversation took.
   
  You might want to buy a bottle of his "favorite" then concencrate his final party spot! That he would appreciate!
