[Ducati] 900 SS Fuel Pump

On all the bikes I have had the pump will run and then stop. That is when
the fuel pressure is built up to the specification and I start the bike at
this point. The pump should run after that to keep the pressure where it
needs to be. I am assuming you are referring to the run and stop before you
start the bike and a continuous run is not normal. It could be a bad pump
or a bad pressure switch. I would say you need to get a pressure reading
off the fuel line but I have not done this so do not know the specification.
I have heard that a fuel pump from a Ford Mustang, I believe the 5.0 liter
one, will work and is much less expensive.
If someone else cannot answer this I think I can find the person who told me
about the Mustang part. They are a lot less expensive than the Ducati one.

After taking my 96 900 SP out of a three month storage, I noticed the fuel
pump seems to run continuosly. Bike has the FCR flatside carb mod. Is this
normal? If not how do I fix? Ciao! Don Green*****
