[Ducati] 1098 question

It has already been seriously suggested a couple of years back.  On a more sober note, has anyone heard from "Jim" (can't remember his last name) from California with the mid-90s SS who was posting on this list back then?  He went to Iraq and I don't believe we've heard from him since.
