Hi Bri,
The races are now full live coverage on British Eurosport/Eurosport2, sorry
if I've spoilt it giving the results however the races are still worth
watching for the other riders who will be 'there' at some point - Leon
Camier for instance. Recovered after that horrific off (certainly horrific
if you saw his lower leg) and riding Ducati.
Fred,
I don't know whether it's worth a punt but if you're subscribed to news
groups someone may record and post. I'm not setup for that unfortunately. By
the by, Neil Hodgson is 'over there' campaigning in the AMA Superbikes isn't
he? Apparently he's trying to get a triple crown Brit, World, American,
don't know how well his efforts are going tho'

Murph,
Sounds like it was a good day. What has happened to the network TV
coverage though? It used to be live, but this one is highlights only on
at 0100-ish on Wednesday morning. I'm pee'd off because I won't be able
to make the Oulton Park round this year like usual.

Hi Phil,
Thank you for the overview of the race and insight to the series. BSB
is yet another reason a US Eurosport feed would be amazing! I'm
jealous! =)
With all the talk of the new AMA series owners and their potential
rules changes...BSB is a series they should be modeling, not some
jerry rigged, isolated, home grown version of NASCRAP.
BSB, it seems, has mostly aligned with WSBK-style rules and has
created not only a place where the factories feel their investment is
worthy, but a pretty level playing field and a true feeder series to
the world stage. Mostly reading about it online, the racing sounds
amazing!
Cheers,
Fred

Thanks Murph! I'll check that out.
And yes, Neil sure is over here giving it his all. But given the
current rules, and the fact that everyone's miles off the front if
they're not on a Suzook....he's riding his a** off on the Honder
consistently finishing between 4th and 6th. Not taking anything away
from Mladin's unbelievable riding...but it ain't right! =)
cheers,

Hi all,
I had heard a lot of good things about the single
injector mod, so I recently bought an FIM UM222 chip
for my '99 996. Installing the chip is not a problem,
but I'm wondering about the best way to disable the
second injector. Which injectors should be disabled,
and is it as simple as just unplugging the injector
harness, or do I need to remove the injector/plug the
port, and somehow ground or remove the injector
harness?
I'm sure this has probably been covered onlist before,
but I can't figure out how to search the archives on
ducati.net; I can't even figure out where to find the
archives...
Thanks!

Greetings,
This is perhaps the best thing I've done on my 2001 996. It eliminated
any prior rough spots/ lags in power delivery. At the time, Suzy and
Bruce of BCM swapped out my old dual injector FIM chip for the UM222.
They were kind enough to walk me through the process. It's been
awhile, but I believe it doesn't matter which injector you 'unplug',
so long as you do so mirroring what you've done on each cylinder. I
know they've sold BCM, but I believe are consulting with another
Ducati dealer? Perhaps someone on the list can chime in on how to get
in contact with them?
Otherwise, I would call any of the usual suspects; Jeff Nash at
Advanced Motorsports, Matt Spencer at Salt Lake Motorsports, the Pro
Italia guys etc...
It's a very easy procedure that just involved 'unplugging one injector
per cylinder.
Cheers,
Fred

I don't know if they are still around - their website seems to have
disappeared - but SILMOTO made really good passenger
thigh-warmers.......or rather HIGH exhausts for injected SS's
I got one from Supermoto Joe for my '99 and it looks great. Here is a
photo on my site :

Man oh man do I need to get in on this one! Give me some time...
No rules, so I'm assuming duct tape is also legal as necessary.

Ditto for not knowing about the video, but experiencing the crack first
hand. My solution was a bit of very nice welding by Dennis at Harris Racing
Engines (I think I remember the names right) in Berkeley, CA. He even beefed
up the other side, which was just starting to show the stress lines.
If you don't know, the 900SS had a problem with the frame cracking on the
upper tube right where it meets the steering tube. It was common enough,
that Ducati was replacing frames under warranty for years after the orginal
period. If you have a mid 90s 900SS and wonder about this, just look at the
tube right next to the weld. You should (or rather, should not) see faint
stress lines that will slowly open up. Since it's steel, it will not
suddenly fail, but slowly come apart.
I chose the weld, rather than the warranty route, since I didn't want to
switch all the gear over to the replacement frame, didn't want to worry if
the new frame would crack, and had the impression that the replacement frame
would make the bike a salvage title.
