Steffan & Cody,
It's not all doom and gloom, read here: _http://www.oncycles.com/preorder/_

To me it seems that they are merging their businesses a bit is all. CycleCat
has always produced excellent products (I have piles of them on my bikes)
but as you said, accessories alone might not be enough to keep you going.
Reading this seems to me like Just-In-Time supply side only this time, it includes
the manufacture of the product. Might just keep their expenses down and keep
the products available.
This is going to be tough for me though as I intended to purchased rearsets
for my 888. The production run of that is prolly gonna be fairly rare.

Cody,
I've been trying to figure this one for a while myself. I heard rumors a
while ago that they were not producing parts anymore, but this is the first
time I've seen the notice on their site. That seems to confirm what people
have been saying. But even reading that I still don't know what this means.
I did notice their shift towards oncycle.com when I stopped by their trailer
at the '06 GP. It was obvious they were shifting their focus more from being
a manufacturer to a retailer. I guess they have found that it's easier just
to sell other people's products. It's too bad, too. I really liked the
quality of their work. But making things and selling things are two entirely
different businesses. But at some point somebody still needs to actually
make the parts. Everybody can't just sell them. As you can imagine, the
price pressure from offshore is tremendous, which makes it hard for US-based
shops. But we as a country have to find a way.
