[Ducati] 900 SP tires

Maybe I should have mentioned this when I recommended the 180/55
earlier, too. My bike is a '95 SS/SP with a 5.5" wheel. I don't have
the later SS shock, but I do have an Ohlins with adjustable ride height.
The rear ride height on my bike is 15mm higher than stock and the triple
clamps are 19mm down on the fork tubes. The forks have been treated to
proper valves and springs, as has the shock. The bike always turns
RIGHT NOW, but still doesn't have problems with head shake, though it
does have a tendency to shove the front around a bit if I get a little
ham-fisted with the brake....go figure, huh?
I will say, though, to counter the argument that the bike will never
overpower a 170/60, the point isn't that we need more tire to handle
more power, we need a DIFFERENT tire because high-end rubber simply
isn't available in 170/60 anymore. The nearest substitute is 180/55, so
that's what I (and many others) have chosen to use.
Another 2 cents,

I think the CR has a 4.5" rim. I also vote for the smaller rear tire
the
power of those bikes will never overwhelm the smaller tires. One of the
best mods I ever did to my bike was install a longer shock from a 1999
SS.
It was a half inch longer and made the bike so much easier to turn. I
rode
a friends bike with a 1" longer Penske and liked it even more just from
the
turn in point of view. It was better at over all ride and everything
else
you would expect that is not the point I am trying to make.
