There my also be other angles on this.  Perhaps Ducati doesn't make any 
money on the hike.  A 1000 unit loss leader might make very good 
business sence (as long as they are not loosing too much on each one). 
Another angle may be that MCN meant "take another 200hp platform and 
trick it out with all the best bits and maybe you would come in under 
$72000".  Alex would definitely know about this.
