I also heard of the time equation Vicki. You don't see Rossi doing any
appearances and little adverts for Yamaha. A lot of Adverts for his other
sponsors but that's all separate dosh in his pocket. But, as I recall when Ducati
was courting him the issue came down to cost, his salary demands were way
beyond Bologna's capabilities. I forget which company rep I read about quoting
that at the time.

In any case, I personally hope he Ducati doesn't get Rossi. I'm happy Ducati
won on their own rights with an up and coming rider. It shows it was the
whole package, not just the rider, not just the bike but the
Team/Rider/Bike/Tires package. If it'd been Rossi this year people'd be saying it was only
because of Rossi. Even now the excuses are out that Rossi lost because he was on
the worst bike in the paddock. I just can't see that. Rossi didn't win
because other riders/teams/manufacturers and tire makers stepped up their game
this year. I personally have really enjoyed the racing with so many different
riders making the podium. I'm looking forward to the last three races being
even more competitive and next year too. Exciting times.

It was never Rossi against Stoner. Stoner came into the picture later. I
heard it was Rossi's demands regarding time, or more specifically, lack of
it.
You get Rossi, Rossi rides. That's pretty much it. It was a dealbreaker.
But the dream is still to have Rossi ride a Ducati. And until Rossi wins
the
overall Motogp championship on a Ducati his legacy isn't complete. So
regardless of how things are today it could always change tomorrow.
IMHO
Vicki
