[Ducati] oil change nightmare

As a retired Auto Tech of 29 years I cant tell you how many times I have had to damn near use dynamite to get oil filters off. This type of thing happens when the Goon who installed your oil filter did not put oil on the sealing ring and tightened the filter down with a filter wrench. Do they know how large of a sealing area we're talking about here ? I mean the contact area for the sealing ring is large. I made the mistake of having my filter changed when I had my first valve adjust done at the dealer. The next time I changed the filter, sure enough my filter wrench did nothing but crush the can. So after using vise grips to remove the can from the base of the filter ,I used what is referred to as a Lady's Foot ( a pry bar with an L shape) and loosened the filters deathgrip by prying on the holes in the base . This seperated the base from it's seat on the case. After some sweat it came right off. Worth a try.
