Don hit the nail on the head. First, make sure the lever isn't somehow
applying pressure to the mastercylinder (there's a reason they put epoxy
over those "reach adjuster screws." ;-) If that's not it, something is
blocking the bleed/return hole. I've had pretty good luck just taking the
mastercylinder off, dumping all the fluid, and going after it with a can of
brake cleaner, hitting the small areas with the plastic nozzle and pumping
the brake cleaner through the MC.
