I don't remember who said it first, but the saying goes something like
this: "It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow".
  This is why I've always loved the lightweights (my beloved FZR400),
and enjoy my sport tourer so much - you always "feel" like you're
going fast even when you know you could be going much faster on the
996.
