I love how Locke said he had no idea how they kept this a secret. Ducati does seem to have a problem keeping stuff under wraps.
I have a treat for you guys; I'll be in Milan on Monday night at the press conference, and I'll email you guys with a description of what they announced along with some photos on photobucket you can feast your eyeballs on.

Hey but that isn't a surprise either. There have been speculation pics on
the web for a couple weeks. So maybe who ever started this new model rumor
is just pulling our leg?

Well, maybe we'll see an 1100cc 4-valve monster, an 1198R AND something
completely different. The anticipation is killing me.

Hi Guys
But that would be surprise. Ducati already said there would be no more four
valve Monsters but a naked 1098. So if it really is a surprise a Supermono
or a fancy F1 replica might be the ticket.

It started from an interview with Michael Lock he gave on the 26th. Here's
the original article:
Vicki
Ducati to let the bike out of the bag Powersports Business Friday
October 26, 2007
Ducati, unlike the industry as a whole, has had growth in its 2007 U.S.
sales and will uncover a new motorcycle model at the upcoming EICMA show in
Milan, Italy.
Unlike in past years, the model has yet to be seen by U.S. dealers.
âEURoeMiraculously, weâEUR(tm)ve managed to keep this bike secret,âEUR said Ducati North
America CEO Michael Lock. âEURoeHow weâEUR(tm)ve done that, I have no idea because weâEUR(tm)ve
never done it before.âEUR
Lock called the new model âEURoepossibly the most significant bike that weâEUR(tm)ve
had in 10 years.âEUR
The EICMA show will be held Nov. 6-11.

âEURoepossibly the most significant bike that weâEUR(tm)ve had in 10 years.âEUR is a pretty bold statement. The way I see it, Ducati has had some pretty significant models out in the last year or so. What could trump the Sedici, 1098, Hypermotard? This is worse than waiting for Christmas. Setting aside the pipe dreams (supermono, elefant) and the assumed/known evolutions (1098R, monster) leaves my immagination pretty blank. A DS powered SS would be great but could hardly be called "most significant"....what about a 125 scooter?

It would help the wheelbase.... but I like my big beast and would love
to see (own) a DS powered Elefant. Nothing like riding through traffic
with car mirrors at knee height. Stuart
