Gabe (and anybody else reading),
I do agree with your statement about SB Ducati charging arm and leg (+ mounting fees) for the tires. He gave me a line about you don't take your own buns into McDonalds "so don't take your own tires into a moto shop who sells the same ones for $100 more." I've had my bike serviced there a couple of times and it seems to come out well. I've never had anything wrong with it. But i'm only 25 and haven't had anybody else work on the bike. Apparently Evoluzione in Ventura does pretty good work for much less than Ducati SB. Any other bike shops in SB?

Hey Alan.
1st off welcome to Santa Barbara (whenever you get here, that is). You'll find AWESOME roads to ride your Duc (or whatever) on and some cool folks with whom to ride if you're so inclined.
You're welcome to look me up. Also check out sbduc.com or the Santa Barbara Motorcycle Club ( http://www.sbmotorcycle.com/ )
19 in 20 (No, not everyone) people I have talked to about Trevor's shop (Duc in SB) don't have anything good to say, specifically because of Trevor but also because of uncaring mechanical work.
I will not set foot in his shop any longer because last time I did, I asked them to change some tires for my MV Agusta. Trevor did the honors and then charged me double the going rate ($40 EACH for mount/balance when I removed the wheels myself) AND dinged up my wheels. Both of them. NOT COOL. Basically that's Trevor's way of telling me to go screw myself for not buying (retail priced) tires from him, I think. And I've known the guy for 5 years AND bought a bike from him last year.
The rest of the staff are very cool. Especially Dan I won't repeat what other people in and out of the shop say about Trevor. But it's ALMOST always NOT what he'd like to have repeated. From what I know, he even gets along quite poorly with the Santa Barbara Ducati Club. At least last time I checked.
BTW, the SB Duc club has Tech Days where everyone gets together to work on their bikes and some very good wrenches to provide Parental Guidance.
But I encourage you to ask around because YMMV. I actually have one friend who Trevor is nice to for some reason.
Ride Well,
Gabriel
