[Ducati] 851 Regulator

Hi list.
Well, I got a Shindengen regulator for my 851. 
"just the same" says the bike shop 500km away. It arrived this morning. Different bolt centres (i can sort that out) and totally different wires. Can anybody tell me how they are supposed to hook up to what I have. The reg and the 851 have 2 yellow wires, No problem there, I guess. Then the reg has 2 green, I guess they just earth to the frame. The reg has 2 red/white wires. The 851 has 1 pink, 1 red and 1 brown.
Why can't life be simple??
