[Ducati] (Ducati) 998 tachometer problems

I had the same problem on my 748. It turns out it was just the battery being old. The bike did alot of funky stuff that did'nt make sense. I changed out the battery with the reccomended yuasa for it and it's been fine ever since. The mechanic did say though that the tachs on the whole range of 916-998 models is a weak link. He did'nt elaborate on it though. Good luck!
