My two favorite "carrying stuff on a motorcycle" stories are: Little brother sitting on the back of my CB550 touring bike (with sissy bar) facing backwards holding onto a large beanbag chair (mid '70s) for about 20 miles ... My Australian shepard who used to ride on the gas tank of that bike ... and the looks on peoples faces when I used to go spring skiing (same bike), a pair of skis/poles strapped to each side of the bike between the saddlebags and crash bars, boots in the saddlebags, girl on the back seat, stereo blaring!!! :) (We used to go to the drive-in movies on that bike too) Those were the days, 'eh?

Thats the way Kevin,
Sure Ducati is just a cool bike any way you look at it, but they are also
quite capable. While I never hauled skiis on a bike, my Cagiva Elefant was
outfitted with one of those heavy wire frame backets for 6 gallon jugs, and
while I was working in Las Cruces but living in a little town called Organ,
I would commute nearly 25 miles each way on a dirt road at the base of the
Organ mountains and come out by "A" mountain, near the NM State U where I
worked. Then on the way home, go back via same route except stop at the feed
store in Organ every other day and pick up a bale of hay and sack of grain
for my horse. They would put the grain in the basket, then while I steadied
the bike, they put the hay on top of the basket. I tried two bales a few
times, but sometimes they would unbalance and come off, so it was easier to
just do one at a time. My 05 Strada, the one that lives with Aaron now, had
40k miles in two years from commuting to Austin from San Antonio when I was
working up there once or twice a week. It is really quite amazing what you
can carry on a bike if you are motivated.

will never be in the Concours (and because I'm too damn lazy and cheap to
restore it - and too busy crashing it). I ride my bikes every chance I get,
for most everything I do, although it's been a couple of years since the
Duck had 100 lbs of manure lashed to the pillion seat (organic, of course),
and I haven't carried lumber or skis since I sold the VF750. snip
