[Ducati] Rossi on Rossi's future

Well put Alex,

In some ways, the best scenario for Ducati might be if Melandri should win
the championship, since that would keep Stoner a bit more subdued in the pay
department. However if either one wins the championship next year, I believe
it will be a far tougher battle. Despite the journalists with their
ridiculous statements that tyres are the determining factor of who wins, the
truth of course is that at the start of the year, Ducati had a huge power
advantage on the straights and good cornering manners. However it was quite
interesting to note that for the final race, Pedrosa drafted Stoner and
passed on the straight, first time that has occurred this season if I
remember rightly. In other words, Ducati may lose their huge power advantage
next year as the Jap. guys catch up with technology. Also, I see Rossi
clamor for a V4 from Yamaha, and Yamaha has certainly been out of it in
terms of producing a winning bike. If Yamaha even gets close to Ducati,
Honda, and Suzuki, then Rossi still has the ability to make the difference.
According to the current Roadracing world, Yamaha still thinks inline 4 is
as good, but perhaps they will rethink that over the break. Certainly they
need to get off their duff and start building a competitive bike.
