[Ducati] Interesting Ducati Quirk

So last night I was headed over to the Wed night Capital Area Monters (CAM) meet-up. It was dark of course, take the cover off of the ST3, insert key to unlock the steering and it won't unlock. Try going the other way towards the parking light and it works fine. So I fiddle with it some more but no luck. Now I convince myself that the little pin that goes into the steering head must be frozen up, my little maglite is not in the tankbag, so I head back into the house and retrieve the maglite from the M900 tankbag and a can of WD-40. Get back out to the ST3 and spray some WD-40 on the pin area, go to put the key back in and that is when I discover my multiple-bike owner rookie mistake - I've got the wrong key. Now I go sh-- how can it be that I was able to turn the parking light on but not unlock the steering head? The worse part is that the key I had in my hand was the key to the Victory Kingpin! So now I'm going to check the two monsters and see if this same quirk applies and now I
'm paranoid that someone could do this at anytime, like while parked at a hotel overnight on one of my trips, resulting in a dead battery. I will be looking to disable that parking light. - Gene
