[Ducati] New Duck Pix!

I don't think that was the bike they were talking about. It's been a known
fact for a while that a refreshed Monster was coming this year. There were
even drawings on MCN. I think they have something else up their sleeve.

Well, looks like I got scooped, but log on to www.cycleworld.com and read my
take on the new Ducs and see some more pics than you might see on other
sites I could name, sites that basically just cut-and-pasted the Ducati
press release without saying it was a press release, Fox News-style.

Coming soon: tech analysis from our European Correspondent, Bruno dePrato.

I work part-time for a Suzuki/Yamaha dealership in Columbia, CT and we
recently got the aforementioned two Ducs at auction. I'm not in sales
but thought someone on the list might be interested. These bikes are not
on the floor yet. I've seen them in the warehouse (I drive a truck
picking up built bikes and crated bikes) and this is what I can share
for info: they are both gray w/red wheels and matching gray hardbags.
The '03 has 14K mi. and the '04 has 10.5K mi. One of them (I think the
'03) has a CF pipe. Both look to be in excellent shape. I asked around
and was told that they will be asking $8995 for the '03 and $9995 for
the '04. I was told that these prices are $1,000 under blue book retail.
That's all I know so far. Just thought I'd pass this info along. I will
try to get additional info if anyone is interested.

How about a 1098 powered ST, or Multistrada ? With carbon fiber bags of
course! I love the idea of a 600 supersport because of a desmo's ability
to rev without valve float.

Well, it is now time for withdrawal symptoms until March 9, 2008, but at
least we can all wear our Ducati World Championship tee shirts, what a
great
year indeed for Stoner, Ducati, and Marlboro Team Ducati.

The finale was a big vindication for the tremendous improvement of
Michelin
tyres. Stoner got his usual great start and had a big lead going into
turn 1
which he held for quite awhile, However about midway in the race, the
new
improved Michelin tyres showed their difference, when Pedrosa was able
to
pass Stoner's Ducati on the straightaway, due to the increased power
from
the Michelins. This was a first that the Michelin tyres were more
powerful
than the Bridgestones on the straight.

In the continuing saga of how the tyres completely dictate the MotoGP
results however, the fickle Michelins hampered Valentino Rossi who had
bravely battled to overcome his broken right hand to put himself in
position
to gain enough points to salvage second place in the championship, but
yet
again, the Michelin tyres sabotaged the Yamaha motor, causing it to fail
again and force Rossi out of the race, leaving Pedrosa in second place
for
the championship.

Absolutely amazing how these tyres can affect and compleatly determine
the
championship.

Go Ducati Go!

Peter

We must have watched different races then. First, tires can't have
more
power, merely more grip allowing the Honda's power to work better.
Semantics
but important.

According to Yamaha it was the bike, a mechanical, that put Rossi out
not
the tires. They said it wasn't the rider which I find surprising given
his hand
was pretty badly bruised.

Or were you being facetious?

Good race. Great to see Nicky back into good fighting form. I wonder
what
Honda will do for him next year?

Go Ducati Go!

well, you see the new Michelins actually store energy from braking and
then release it on accelerating out of the corner, giveing the effect of

a 2 wheel drive, since the front wheel stored so much more energy in
braking.

It seems that the slipper clutch was not set up properly and the power
released from the rear wheel was coming in at a different frequency to
the pulse cycle from the engine, causing the crankshaft to melt.

Nice, Phil!
How does Casey scrape his knee sliders & not his toe sliders?
