Well, it is now time for withdrawal symptoms until March 9, 2008, but at
least we can all wear our Ducati World Championship tee shirts, what a great
year indeed for Stoner, Ducati, and Marlboro Team Ducati.
The finale was a big vindication for the tremendous improvement of Michelin
tyres. Stoner got his usual great start and had a big lead going into turn 1
which he held for quite awhile, However about midway in the race, the new
improved Michelin tyres showed their difference, when Pedrosa was able to
pass Stoner's Ducati on the straightaway, due to the increased power from
the Michelins. This was a first that the Michelin tyres were more powerful
than the Bridgestones on the straight.
In the continuing saga of how the tyres completely dictate the MotoGP
results however, the fickle Michelins hampered Valentino Rossi who had
bravely battled to overcome his broken right hand to put himself in position
to gain enough points to salvage second place in the championship, but yet
again, the Michelin tyres sabotaged the Yamaha motor, causing it to fail
again and force Rossi out of the race, leaving Pedrosa in second place for
the championship.
Absolutely amazing how these tyres can affect and compleatly determine the
championship.
Go Ducati Go!
Peter
