[Ducati] new Ducati owner - clutch

Hello all, I just purchased a cherry 2003 ST4S with 1,850 original miles on it, love it so far just a few concerns with the clutch. It it normal for the clutch to slip now and then in 5th or 6th gear while riding pretty hard? Don't think it was my driving but felt like I totally lost the clutch for a few seconds, it's been fine ever since, I pulled the cover off blew it out with an air hose found there was quite a bit of debris, is this normal or is there a problem I'm not aware of? Any advice would be much appreciated. Paul
