Make the ceiling at least 13ft high. This will give you the ability to put a
car lift in it

I used my lift as storage in one bay, could get all my bikes on it and a
Suburban underneath it. Great use of space if you plan on putting cars in
your garage as well.

Make it big. I have a 30'x40' and, ideally, could use more. I am lucky
enough to have a couple more outbuildings just as big for the trailer and a
couple of cars.
Be sure to have at least 220v power and water to it. You may want to imagine
space for a work stand, small lathe, drill press, pedestal grinder/polisher,
welder, blast booth and even a small paint booth. Heat and A/C are very
desirable along with good insulation. You might want to have at least one
good beam (or beams) so you can have a good hoist (stationary or track).
Give yourself plenty of room for moving stuff.
IMHO, it makes a whole lot of sense to look at all the toys you have and
double what you need to accommodate that.

I am looking for a house closer to where I work and one of my criteria is a
3-car garage. I think I may have found a better solution. I found a house
with no garage but has a driveway and space to build the Garage-Mahal.
Anyone have any advice on having a garage built? What motor-head features am
I not thinking of, but should add?
