Mentoring takes time and maybe some wouldn't use that word, but those are
the words Frederico Menoli used this winter and again more recently. Maybe
not so much concerning the "logic" of Capirossi tutoring Stoner, but maybe
more that he was asked to do so by the guy that was signing his paycheck.
And I wouldn't so much underestimate what is probably Capri's genuine Love
for Ducati. I'm willing to bet Stoner and Capri are genually friends - I'd
like to know. Caprirossi certinally knows he will not last forever and if he
does his competivness will surly wane over time - he's Italian, not
Superman. I thought his performance Sunday was praiseworthy. I guess I'd
have to defer to Ms. Vicki on this though, as she has inside knowledge I
certianlly don't have.
That Stoner has the talent is patently obvious to the casual observer.
Talent alone won't always get you where you want to go. I'd like to think
Capri is DUCATI at heart and is lending a hand and helping smooth the
process of Stoner becoming the King pin of Ducati's GP effort. Capri is
still relatively young (not necessarily for racing) and I hope to see him
racing for Ducati for some time to come. No was do I think Cappi is
anywhere near the end of his GP rope.
