At the risk of exposing myself as an even larger nutcase than you guys
already know I am - I prefer the "relationship" of a kickstart bike. You can't
just get on it and ride it. You have to pay attention and form a mutual respect
sort of bond. Until it happens you want to kick the bike (not in a good way),
after it happens, well, that's pretty special. Those of you who ride old
bikes know exactly what I mean. I'm off on the Motogiro in a few days and I can
not wait to get my hands on "Vicki 6" (whatever bike Mr. Caracchi has built
for me, I'll see it when I get there) because I know it's going to be such a
perfect machine (they ALWAYS are) that it will take about 5 minutes in the
parking lot looking it over and practicing kicking it to life and after that it's
5 days of the best bike bonding that could possible exist!
For me, life just doesn't get any better.

Those 'old gals' are a great ride sometimes. Seeing an original Indian side
shifter coming down the country roads here after a long winter spewing enough
oil smoke to make you think its on fire will always get a big smile out of
me. Especially when you get on a 'modern' ride to appreciate how refined
they have become. Too bad they're a real 'bear' to work on without all the
fancy tools.
