[Ducati] 748r motor

hi guys, can anyone help me with the life of a 748r 2002 motor?
I have been offered one with 40000 kilometres on the speedo but worried how long before the big bang and big bucks. bike has been serviced by same dealer from new and is ready for 40000km service. Would it be wise to purchase this bike knowing full well its got alot of kms. Basically the question is how much longer would it last?
