I took possession of my 1098S and the new Ducati Arai Ltd. edition lid on
Saturday. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to ride more that 48 miles
since delivery because of both weather and personal commitments.

>From the 48 miles and the limited 5.5 K RPMS I can tell you the following:

I love the bike. The ergonomics are great for a tall guy like
me.http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f362/mv031161/MV1098S2FirstDay.jpg I
read here that gearing was too tall which I believe the contrary. (Obviously
this person never owned a 999S before) I think the gearing is just perfect
for all around. I hate the upper vibration of the fairing, mirrors and
hydraulic fluid reservoirs. The mirrors are positioned a lot better than my
999S but vibration makes them useless! For a taller person, more upwards
and outside tilt of the mirrors could be used. Also the upper corners of
the fairing and windshield do vibrate excessively.

Welcome back to the knuckle buster fairing. It brought memories of my 916!
Do not attempt to steer full deflection without some knuckle protection
while handling the bike in close areas!!!!!

My 2 cents.

When I ride more, I'll report. My 999S is still for sale in the classified
section. Let me know if there is any interest. Others with 1098S please
report your impressions
